Blommit is going pretty well so far. We have a consistent output of content everyday and we're slowly getting a decent bit of popularity. So far, since the site has been fully launched, we've gotten about 2,000 unique visitors, with about 700 or so regular visits every week. So we're slowly getting somewhere.
Hopefully those numbers will jump significantly starting soon. One of our classmates is a Student Blogger for AdAge magazine, which means he gets to write a column for one of the biggest publications in our industry's website on a semi-regular basis. His latest one just came out today and it prominently features Blommit. Copy and paste the link below to check it out. Help us boost our numbers. We'll thank you once we're internet-famous.

New Title
Note the new title to the blog. I realized that my attempt to write a legitimate blog about relevant things died along time ago.
Instead, it's just a collection of all things Alex. Things I like or dislike, things I do, things that happen to me, or just things I think are interesting.
Which is OK because I'm more comfortable just writing about shit I'm interested than trying to put on an analytical facade.
That's about it. Not much else has changed. Hopefully something interesting will swing my way pretty soon. I'll blog about. On my show.

Tough
This whole blogging twice a week thing is really hard when you've got nothing to talk about.
Blommit's going well. My "Thursday" post made the front page of Current the other day.
We're about to dive deep into the campaign to really spread it to people.
So stay tuned for that. Should be interesting.

Pockets Full of Awards
Well, not full anyway. But we did win two!
The judging is complete and though "Pockets Full of Love" didn't win the coveted Audience Award and subsequent showing in Miami, we didn't go home empty-handed either.
Our movie won for Best Use of Romance Genre as well as a special judges award for Best Performance By An Imaginary Drag Queen (congrats Kris).
Thank you everyone for voting. Making the movie was a deliriously fun pain in the ass. Maybe we'll do it again some time.

You Know You've Made It When...
Knowing how important pop-culture acceptance is in this business, I'm sure BK is loving this.

F'n Economy

This goddamned economy, man. I went to the grocery store today and even Pringles are more expensive! I used to get them at Kroger for $1.
I'll take cheaper gas any day, but a higher price for processed potatoish crisps is wholly unreasonable. I will not lower myself to Kroger brand potato chips. I will not, sir.

New Music Tuesday

I finally got my hands on the new TV on the Radio album "Dear Science." Holy crap.
The album came out in late September and is now being named Album of the Year by a slew of music magazines including Rolling Stone and Spin.
Personally I'm blown away by it. I have TVotR's last two albums but this one is by far their best to date.
They've found a way to infuse their already eclectic and ambient sounds with even more influences to create something entirely new.
Below is my favorite track off the album (so far, a few more listens and there may be 10 more) "Family Tree." It does sound a bit like Coldplay at certain points, but overall this song is beyond almost anything I've heard before. Hauntingly beautiful.

Somethin' New
I said yesterday that I'd try to post at least twice a week. I've now also decided to begin a "feature" of sorts here on ye'olde blog. From time to time, I will provide 1-3 sentence reviews/personal descriptions of films recently seen. Let's see how long I can keep this up.

Each and every one of my movie dreams come true. Heartbreakingly accurate.

Dirty Harry with his pants pulled up to his belly button.

Would have liked it more (and would have worked better) if it were "Abbot and Costello Meet the Fuhrer."

Blommit

A few months ago I started building a website with some friends from school. It started as a group blog, something to do outside the walls of the Brandcenter, something to serve as a creative outlet. We've been told at school to find ways to create culture. That is the goal of this site. We're trying to create something lasting, unrelated to advertising or the Brandcenter, something that will be of interest to people.
It's called Blommit.com
Right now there are seven of us (there were eight, there may be again someday). Every week one of us picks a topic and then one by one, every day for that week, one of us posts some piece of original created content related to that particular topic.
There have been some good topics so far (Child birth, Music Videos, Tobacco, to name a few. This week is the 7 Deadly Sins).
If the site were to be summed up in one word, I would say Perspectives. Blommit is delivering 7 unique, entertaining, and intelligent perspectives on things you may or may not have ever given significant thought to.
Hopefully it will take off. We've already started the initial groundwork and have had some success using other sites like Facebook, Twitter, and Current. Stickers and T-Shirts are on the way.
So go check it out, follow it, and help us create some culture.
been a while
I have not posted anything here in about a month and a half.
New Years Resolution: I'm going to change that. I'll try to do something at least twice a week.
starting with...(look up)...
