Windy City Showdown
This Summer I'll be lucky enough to work as an intern at DDB Chicago. Being so new to the industry, to get an opportunity like this...holy shit! Words can't really describe how excited I am. I've never been to Chicago before. I've never worked in an agency before. Hell, I've never even had job before that didn't require some kind of name tag. This is huge and I can't wait for it to start. And this isn't some tiny, podunk, backwoods office either, DDB Chicago is the real f'n deal. They do some awesome, amazing work at that place and to think that I'll soon have the chance to contribute even the tiniest bit, is mindblowing. They've got State-farm, Anheuser-Busch...how many of us watch the SuperBowl every year specifically for the Bud-Light ads? Admit it...I'll be working on the McDonald's account. Another huge f'n deal. The more I think about it, the harder it is to stop smiling. I'm psyched. When do we leave?

Throwback
So, it was just announced that, starting in May, "Jimmy Kimmel Live" will start implementing live commercials. I'm not quite sure how I feel about this just yet but I gotta admit that it's different. The thinking behind the process is that by putting live ads into the content of the show, it will prevent viewers from skipping over the ads with their DVRs. Could be true, but the ads are gonna have to be really subtle otherwise people will still fast-forward straight through the segment. It's a step in the right direction of combating DVR and I'm intrigued to see how it will play out. I just hope it will look something like this...

self-fulfilling prophecy
What did I tell you? In the very first post I said that this blog would probably start strong and then just die a slow death. Well, it may be starting sooner than I thought. It's been 9 days since my last post on every one of those days I've said to myself "I should blog about something today" but alas I just never got to it. I'm afraid that this thing may die a lot sooner than expected. I hope not, though, I'd like to think that I'm an interesting enough person to have something to say every now and then.....i got nothing.....I did just kill another hornet inside my apartment. 3rd one in the same spot in 2 weeks. Probably not good. I'll just keep killing them and leaving the bodies where they fall. That way the other hornets will know I'm not the guy to fuck with. that's it.

Godspeed Hotfire!
So last semester in Creative Thinking we had an assignment where we had to make up a country and write/perform its national anthem. Joey and I decided to create warring nations, battling over hip-hop supremacy. My country was Hotfirestan. His was Nudestantinople. Here's my anthem. Enjoy.
One nation under God
One God of hip hop
We built an empire
Took it straight to the tip top
Founded on the basis
Of old school rhymin’
We got fly style
And impeccable timin’
From the edge of the pharcyde
To the top of sugar hill
The times may change
But our spirit never will
Fat boys, whodini, cool herc, and kurtis blow
Our founding fathers
If ya don’t know now ya know
We’re genuine MCs
Not second-rate suckas
It’s a different world
Dwayne wayne muthafuckah
2pac lives here
Easy E and biggie too
We watch wylde style
And electric boogaloo
Rock kangol hats
And shoes by adidas
Starter jackets come and go
But hip hop will never leave us
So put your hands up high
Straight up to the ceiling
Forget that new school mess
Cuz the old school’s so appealing
Nudestantinople
Is our greatest rival
We’ll fight’em till the end
It’s about survival
Their flow is wack
In the worst kinda way
They got less stayin’ power
Than kid ‘n’ play
Hotfirestan rise up
You know our people never tire
God bless hip hop
Godspeed hotfire!

here i am, rock you like a hurricane.
So I've been contemplating starting one of these for a while now. I've thought about what would be the best way to start it off. Should I post something to introduce myself? Should I post something I've already written for another purpose? Should I comment on a current event?
Since I figure anyone who is reading this probably knows me (at least a little bit) anyway, I'll skip the intros. I will say this about myself. I'm kinda slow when it comes to maintaining these kinds of things. Oh sure, it'll start off stronger than an MLB pinch hitter, but then I'll stop posting as much as in the beginning. It'll probably just end a quiet death somewhere down the road, forgotten by me and maybe by you too. But until then, let's get ta binness:
I'll start with a current event that I happen to find very important.
Anyone who knows me knows I'm a complete nerd for pro wrestling, WWE in particular. I can't really explain it but you just gotta trust me when I say that if you can get beyond the "oh this is so fake, they're such bad actors" stage, there really is something magical about that crazy business. And through it all there has been no one who's been able to make something so fake so believable, or make such bad acting look so good as the Nature Boy, Ric Flair.
Laugh if you want, go to some other website if you so please, but I'm gonna write this anyway. This past weekend Ric Flair had his very last match after a 35 year in-ring career. The very first WrestleMania I can remember is WM8, where Ric Flair fought Randy Savage for the WWE title (that match was also the main event of the very first WWE show I ever went to). Now, at WM24, Flair has hung up the boots for good. Thank you Ric, for giving me, as a fan, so much over the years.
I know thanking a "fake" athlete may sound weird to a lot of you but like I said, when you're really a fan of it all, there is magic in pro wrestling. Ric Flair retiring is on par with Michael Jordan (the first time it happened) or Brett Favre last month. So I'll say it again. Thank you Ric.
Again, laugh at me if you want, mock if you must, hell, I even give you permission to point. I wouldn't blame you. My love for something so childish is a little silly. But look at it this way, at least I'm not like these guys:
